How it's been.

This project has been a plateau. Honestly, I abandoned my 20 Time Project. I have figured out that reading and writing really isn't my passion. Hopefully Emma is still passionate about this and could continue our project. We never had a meeting with Mr. Homme. We totally forgot about this project completely.

I feel bad for doing all this work and presenting something I was, supposedly, passionate about and abandoning it. Maybe one day I will be able to do a 20 Time on my own with a different passion.  I have found that my new passion is fashion and design. I was thinking. I could do something with that in my own.

Nothing has really changed with our project. I have been working on my informational writing piece. It was looking really good.  I had it all done until everything from my google docs vanished. This has helped me learn how to problem solve and work around problems. I started my project over again. I think that this will actually help me in some way. Now since I know what I wrote before, I can add or subtract things that will make my paper better.
For this informational paper, I have learned that there are a lot of professions that has something to do with my passion. I have found out that I can go to collage and do many things with reading. I can go to collage to be an author or a teacher. A really cool job I found was a reading specialist in a hospitals. This project is really helping me prepare for my future.

Last Friday I left school early so I wasn't able to help Emma with our 20 Time project. I am hoping that Emma got a lot of work done. I am also hoping that we can get an appointment with Mr. Homme soon. If we don't do it soon then we might not meet our deadline. Meeting with Mr. Homme is the make or break for our project.
If  Mr. Homme approves our project, we then have to get in touch with someone that is in charge with CTV. We need to get the word out they we are in need of book donations. We need to let everyone know what we are doing, how to donate books, and why we are doing it. We already made a commercial for CTV. We need to step our game up to get everything done by our deadline. It is coming up fast.

Pitch Day Done. Now What Do We Do

This 20 Time project has been a very good learning experience. I think the most valuable lesson this far into the project would be that nothing is going to turn out perfect, sadly. Emma and I had an appointment with Mr. Homme, but we totally forgot and now we have to fine a time to reschedule. This was a mistake on our part, but still, we thought that we can just make an appointment, meet with him and the. We can just start getting books. Sadly, it's not always that easy.
Emma and I have decided to make our deadline for this project December 25. We have decided this so we can donate the books for Christmas, hence 'The Gift of Books'. I know this is a close deadline, but we want to collect as many books as we can to get there.  To make this happen we have to make a new appointment with Mr. Homme as soon as possible for project approval. We need to know if it is okay to put collection bins in teachers classrooms. Also we need to make an ad to put on CTV to let students know how to participate. I am really looking forward to hopefully fulfilling this goal.

Pitch Day

I think Pitch Day went really well. I also think it was a very good experience. It really helped me to complete my one goal, better presentation skills. It helped me because Emma wasn't there to help give the presentation, so I had to try to give a nice fluent presentation all by myself. It was very nerve racking because I had to try and remember all the points we needed to hit.
I also think Pitch Day was very rewarding. I only presented our idea once but I still got really good feedback. I even got some more idea so on other places we could donate our books too. I thought Salvation Army was the only place to donate the books, but after this experience it opened my eyes to a lot of other places and options. I am really happy I am a part of this project. I am also so glad Pitch Day went well.

I was very nervous to call Salvation Army.  I thought I would do really bad talking to them. It was hard finding the right number to call and the right person to talk to. After I called I realized I did really well. It was just like talking to a normal person. I don't know why I got so worked up about it.
The good news is, after finding the right number,  the man on the other line said he would be happy to except book donations.  He said that the Salvation Army excepts donations of all kinds of books. So far, this project is going well.

Today we went on the Salvation Army website ( http://www.salvationarmyusa.org/usn/www_usn_2.nsfto ) to see if we could call someone about donating books. I was having issues finding the contact number. I am assuming that donating books won't be a problem, but I will still. All and ask.
I really hope that we will be able to donate the books. I also really hope that we will have a good amount of books to donate. Meeting this goal will be great.  Am really looking forward to calling Salvation Army to get a response on this idea.
